Looks so much better in the bottom picture than the artist drawing above.

Well, I like the "design sketch" too. Problem with the published designs is that they often differ from the coin that some time later is minted: Sometimes the design "promises" a 3D look that the coin does not have, sometimes (in fewer cases IMO) the coin looks better. In this case, when I first saw the design, I was on one hand fond of it, but on the other hand skeptical - will the coin have that detailed "skyline" too? Well, yes, it does. :)

That's correct Chris and also Augsburger. The coin is very beautiful.
That's why I try to post the artist drawing and the original coin (in the roll). The original coin can be posted on the moment I have the coin available.

Quick question from a Canadian, I'm going to France and Spain for a school trip and I'm wondering how does one get commemorative or uncirculated coin rolls, like bank rolls. Is a central bank or is at any bank? Thanks,

Belgium 2 euro 2014 'Red Cross' with very limited mintage: 12.500 in proof-quality 225.000 in bu-quality in coincard 50.000 unc coins for circulation (which is just 2.000 coinrolls)

Don't really care about this coin. A commemorative €2 piece - from Belgium, not from one of those small non-EU countries that issue coins - with such an extremely low mintage sort of defeats the purpose or concept of circulating commems. The design is not exciting either, so I will just say No. :)
To make things worse, the Belgian Mint produced two versions of the coincard. Roughly half of them show the obverse when you look at the French side; with the other half it's the Dutch side. Also, some of the coins do not have the regular Belgian edge lettering but the Italian or Dutch version. Apparently the mint got the blanks from other mints or suppliers ...

That's correct. Dutch version: GOD ZIJ MET ONS Italian version: 2*2*2 Belgium version: 2**2**2 I have seen more then 1500 coincards and I found less then 1 procent Italian version or Dutch version. the other coins are all Belgium.

What does that have to do with the Vatican, didn't there have to be some connection for these commemoratives? Didn't San Marino not do a JFK one because it has nothing to do with them?

In a broader sense it does have something to do with most of Europe - the Fall of the Berlin Wall as a symbol of what divided "West" and "East" did affect many countries. Austria and Belgium for example issued collector coins on the same occasion. And yes, of course such coins are issued primarily because collectors will pay for them. ;)
