Hi there,

I am going to Las Vegas soon, and want to visit a few coin shops. I am looking for the ones that have boxes of cheap trade dollars/medallions/etc. I've searched online and found dozens of stores, too many to visit. So I would like to cut out the ones that are simply buying gold and silver or just deal with high end graded coins. Can anybody suggest good coin stores or pawn shops to visit while I'm there?
Rest in Peace

If you are walking around Fremont Street Experience downtown there are a couple of jewelry stores just north off of Fremont Street that have coins. It's hit and miss as to what you might find. Sometimes they have good stuff, sometimes not much at all. The same owner owns both shops.

If it were me, I'd get on the phone and make some calls to the shops you found online and let them know what you are looking for. That should narrow your visits down (a lot), save you time and prevent you for driving around metro LV on a wild goose chase. Traffic can sometimes be really bad.

Definitely stay away from Pawn Stars. Even if they have what you want they will probably want way too much for it to begin with and it's hard to get them to negotiate on coins and currency.

Have fun and good luck!

Thanks Westernsky. I went through the pawn stars place last time I was in Vegas...soooo over priced! There was a pretty good pawn shop around the corner from them though. Can't remember their name but they had The Blues Brothers statues out front.

I've emailed a few of the coin stores I've found, not a single one of them replied though.

One of the shops north of the Fremont Street Experience is Casino Jewelers at 107 N Forth St. The other one is behind the souvenir shop on the NW corner of Fremont St and N Las Vegas Blvd. They are actually within about 1/2 block of each other. I've had mixed experiences at both places.

BTW .... most of the coin shops I've been to in Las Vegas are like vultures. Just sitting around waiting for the little old lady to come in with a sack full of $20 Saints or original rolls of BU Morgans. I don't think it happens too often.

Doesn't surprise me they haven't responded to your emails. If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed.

Yes, I wanted to avoid the vulture shops just waiting around to steal peoples gold and silver for pennies. My google search pulled up over 20 coins shops, and there's no way their market can support that unless most of them are just fronts for buying silver.

Hey Redmoon...

If your Vegas trip is anytime around the beginning of April you can catch one of the better Las Vegas coin shows April 4-6. I believe the show is at the Palace Station Casino just off I-15 southwest of downtown a few miles.

Good luck on your search!
