I haven't had one of these in hand - is the lettering on the reverse incuse? All images I've seen show it as raised.

All the lettering on the back is raised.

Alaska 1959 ......E PLURIBUS UNUM........The great Land .....

All raised

EDIT: Ok, lets do this again ....... the 2012 Denali quarter is all incuse on the reverse. All the lettering is " indented "

Think I covered it this time

Huh.. ok so the Danali one is incuse. Strange, because the images such as here make it look raised, at least to me.

I ask because my husband brought one home from work and the lettering is just terrible on the reverse, as well as being incuse. I haven't seen lettering this bad of quality except for some edge lettering. Both sides appear to be weakly struck to begin with, unless it's just mountains of wear.

Holding one in my hand now, and it is definitely incuse. None of the ATB business strikes are particularly good strikes. The designs are more intricate than other coins, even the State Quarters, but they are still just struck once and fired into the hopper.

The proofs and the silver proofs look much better
