Pics are a bit small to grade but I will hazard an F12. Nice pick up!

It'll be a lot easier if you first crop away everything that isn't a coin. Optimizer:

It can really pay to check "nontraditional" sellers for coins. As you've found out, having just bought a coin for about a tenth of its' true value.

Keep your wits about you, though - there's also a greater than normal risk of running into horribly-overpriced or cleaned stuff.

I think F12 is appropriate on this one, nice find!
$17.00 you say? That's at least $160.00 coin and probably closer to $200.00!

I too say about F12 ish. Only 135,000 Minted so at that price, you really, really got a deal. Obviously the seller didn't know what he had.

ya lol $17 dollars. I'm assuming she called her boss to ask how much and he never knew it was a rare variety and just assumed it was a common one. she said the pile of coins was to show customers that they buy silver coins. He has coins to sell but only brings them out when he's in presence. I can't imagine how many rare coins are bought buy these cash for gold jewelry stores. my jaw dropped several times when I visited different stores yesterday and they all said they only buy coins at scrap value and melt them for the silver value. they said they only don't if they realize it's valuable, but I'm learning that half the time you don't always realize what you might have from a Red Book and interest and new varieties are always popping up and sparking Interest in collectors. I can't imagine how many coins are still being melted and it's not the mint melting them.

Just Carl, you're looking at the mintage of the Half Dime. This is the dime, mintage is 95,000.

I'd say F-12 easy, some claims to F-15, I wouldn't go any higher but you never know with the TPG's.

Wow, I am going to have to check non-traditional places like that. I usually get more luck with lots with bad pics.
