I really need to stop buying problems coins,
but it was cheap ... and I wanted to buy something.

For me, this is one of those coins I get home and say
"what did I do" ...

I guess it will be sitting on a window sill for the next year or so. Anyone have a better idea of getting it to
tone back to grey?

Lots of different options depending on how much you want to interview over just letting nature runs its course.

You can try sticking it on a brand new piece of oak or cherry I believe and then set it in the window.

Ive also heard taco bell napkins apparently work great wrapping it in one and setting it in a wooden desk drawer.

You could try burying it too. Worse case you just clean it off and youre back where you started.

If you really want to get it changed quick you can put it in a potato in the oven. No clue how hot or long but should darken it quick.

And theres always the pocket piece method.

Being polished I feel like youll probably have to get more aggressive with it then just setting it in a window like with a cleaned coin. Itll be an AT coin but Id take AT over polished personally.

Polished is much tougher to AT. I would not cook it. I would go cherry wood in the sun.

Nice details on it, I probably would've pulled the trigger on it too if the price was right.

It doesn't looke too bad to me either. There is obviously some luster retained in the protected areas; and that alone would make it worth saving imho.
