Looks like a Buddhist token to me... but I don't know anything else. I would assume the rev. is a Bodhi tree.
Just a guess really.

Not Buddha. You never see him enthroned wearing what looks like a turban and with what looks to me like a cat on his shoulder. I might suggest some kind of (Hindu or Sikh?) temple or pilrimage token while the squiggles on either side look like - well squiggles.

The squiggles are reminiscent of some of the old magic token/coins that were produced. The figure looks like a cartoon genie with the cat. Upon enlarging the pics bottom left set of squiggles the letters B.P. can be seen. so that rules out some temple offering unless it is a US/Canada temple coin. They engraving on the sides could tie into the patter lines of the magic trick or story line.

Hello,
Your coin reminds me a medal. I will check later if I find any similar one.
Be Happy, J.

Interesting token, with the B.P. I'd start to wonder if it was the Buddha, someone's misinterpretation of the imagery. I also love the fact that the cat is on his right shoulder, mine rides on that shoulder too

Muhammad liked cats... Just throwing it out there. Upper lines could be a "flaming" halo. However, the positioning of the hands is very curious to me. Interesting item at the very least. Still has me stumped.

Is it a cat or a owl on the shoulder ? The tree seems to be an appletree

I still see a cat, maybe that is just what I want to see.
Interesting things about most religions that follow Muhammad, they don't like images of living things. The Taliban destroyed thousand year old statues of the Buddha burned film and destroyed art work in Afghanistan. If you look at most coins from Muslim countries they have ornate designs and no images of living things.

I am certain I've seen those squigglies on the Forum before. But where...

I'm starting to fall in line with Circus' explanation. The squiggles don't look like any occult / mystical script I'm familiar with - though it does in some way resemble them. Likewise, the hand position is reminiscent of a Mudra - which implies to me some religious / mystical / magical significance, but also doesn't look quite right. The throned figure almost reminds me of a Tarot trump but again - not quite there. I'm at a loss other than this could have been used for a trick.

I believe the squiggles were on one of the magic coins out of NY/NJ that was posted a while ago.
