The color is a little off (lighter than most). The weight is 4.5 grams.

Are you comparing it with a post 1864 Indian head? The 1859-part of 1864 were a different composition and thicker/heavier. They were Copper Nickel. Nothing looks off to me.

Yes it looks like it is. Should be 4.67 grams before wear and tear.

88% copper, 12% nickel from 1859 to 1864.

This is why I posted it here. I had not encountered any of the copper nickel cents before. I was more concerned about the weight. I thought the color might be due to the metal composition. Thanks for your input.

Yep, normal. The coppernickel coins weighed 72 grains (4.66 grams) while the bronze coins that started in 1864 weighed 48 grains (3.1 grams). Since both alloys are almost the same in density in order to weigh that much more the coppernickel coin had to be significantly thicker.

Tolerance for the coppernickel cents was +/- .259 grams so the weight range would be 4.407 grams to 4.925 grams. 4.91 grams fits in that range.

I agree, this is just a normal TY-2 copper nickel IHC.
I would recommend staying away from ebay "unsearched" rolls.
