Yes !

How often do you encounter 1997 £2 coins ? I would hazard a guess and say rarely. Scratching my brain - I have only encountered a total of 3 in my change over the last 3 years ....and then take into account that you got yourself an error 1997 £2 coin - now what are the odds on that ?

I have never seen an error 1997 £2 coin for sale so I have no idea what its worth but I would definitely say yours is a rare gem

Worth at least 2 pounds at that.

But these "errors", I don't consider them to be errors, they're just badly done or something, might make you 3 or 4 pounds on e-bay, maybe more.

There are many errors on the £2 coin.
ebay you may get a bit more than face.
A keeper but not a pension fund.
The undated 20p's made £300 at one time and now worth diddly.
