Hi Guys,

Found another unusual coin. Looks to be Nepalese or perhaps Bhutan? The language looks to be greater Hindi region to me but I'm struggling to identify it using the references I have at my disposal.

Help would be fantastic!

I think it's a 5 Sho of Tibet of the type Y#28 (issued between 1947 and 1953 but I can't decipher the date.

Perfect! the coin is from 1947, they seem to be quite scarce in this grade. The coin itself is aUNC.

Its a bit unusual the dating system (and quite complicated). It looks to be based on cycles of 60 years. This is the link I used to decode the year:

And a close-up of the coin:
Unknown-Coin---Nepal?-|-Tibet-5-Sho

It shows 16-21 or 1947 in the Gregorian calendar.

Thanks, I had forgotten about that very useful site and I was looking at the wrong characters for the year.
