I'd say XF Details Cleaned. Being a key date in the series worth $150ish I'd say, yeah. Get it graded.

I wouldn't have it graded unless it was a choice BU since the price of these are similar in most lower grades. I especially wouldn't send this coin in until I had it checked out thoroughly. It looks like a fake to me. Letters in the legend are fat along with the numerals. nlp

The surface of the coin does seem unusual. Seems to have no luster. If it does have luster, is it cartwheel luster? if not, it's been cleaned or dipped.

I think it may be cleaned. It does have an odd shine to it. It almost looks like it was unpolished or something. A lot of the morgans I see online have some sort of additional color to them... this one is almost completely silver colored. Compared to a modern ASE or Maple, it is dull. Hopefully that can help you with the appearance. I am new to collecting... what exactly is cartwheel luster? Thanks.

Quote: cartwheel 1. The pleasing effect seen on some coins when they are rotated in a good light source. The luster rotates around like the spokes of a wagon wheel. A term applied mainly to frosty Mint State coins, especially silver dollars, to describe their luster. Also, a slang term for a silver dollar.
2. Any large, heavy coin, such as the British pennies and twopences of 1797. Andrewrp, this is from the CCF glossary located on the left of the page.

questionable sufaces for sure, from these pics I would have to say it would not be worth the expense to send it in

AU details. Dull gray surfaces suggesting it was dipped out. Improperly cleaned

I hate to say but I think the authenticity is questionable. The motto, stars, and date have a fatty appearance and eagle on the reverse almost looks sunken.

I agree with D0ubl3Eagle, something just doesn't feel right about this coin. I would test the weight on this one.

I sure hope this is not a fake. Everything seems to check out. The weight is 26.69 grams. It is nonmagnetic. Diameter is about 3.8 cm.
Are there any other tests I can do?
Thanks.

If you have a neodymium magnet and hold your coin at about a 45 to 60 degree angle, place the magnet on top and let it go. If it is silver the magnet sets up an eddying effect and falls slowly over the coin. If it sticks or falls off fast it isn't silver and definitely a fake. Test it on a "normal" coin from your pocket so you can see what a fast fall is. Even if it is silver that doesn't mean it isn't a fake but most counterfeiters aren't going to use real silver if they can get away with it.
