I don't anymore, but there was a time when I did cary a few super cheap extras around to leave along with an occasional tip, etc. One time I was in a cafeteria getting lunch and I pulled out a $20. The guy looked at me in an almost disgusted way and asked if I had anything smaller. I said no, and he said he couldn't change the 20 as they hadn't enough change in the till, and unless I had something smaller, I would have to wait. I said something along the lines of "well, I've got this" and pulled out a tiny Hong Kong one cent banknote. As it was only about 1/2 inch by 2 inches, everyone around me thought it was pretty dang funny. But not the checker. He did take the 20 though, and gave me the correct change.

That's a good story Dave! I have a fake $1,000,000 note that I once jokingly tried to spend, but the cashier said he didn't have change for that. I've never thought of leaving world banknotes as tips, though.

Sometimes some federal reserve notes go into my wallet but not everyone likes them. I have places where I can spend them to my own advantage so I don't get ripped off my bank exchange rates.

Libertad, that is really interesting! I've always wondered how Canadian stores react to American currency. And yeah Lyle, that is why I keep foreign banknotes in my wallet. They are good conversation pieces and sometimes funny to pull out when people ask for change!

Whenever I see Americans spending (or trying to spend) American dollars in Canada, I always wish I could refuse them and show them that Canada is not completely dominated by America! But the truth is that I love those $1 bills because of the different letters that tell where they were printed and I hope to eventually have a full set.

Don't carry foreign money in fact I don't even have a wallet. I would hate any foreign currency to earn more creases than necessary.
Having said that I did use to take some to work occasionally including some Turkish Millions Lira to brag to my colleagues that I didn't really need to work as I was a multi-millionaire.
Oh and took my 100 trillion Zimbabwe Dollars to my local bar once. Bought a round for everyone in the place and then flourished the note apologising that I didn't have anything smaller! Well it produced a laugh anyway.

That's interesting nalaberong! And see that's one reason why I carry them around thai-vic, to get some laughs going.

Lol, nala: whenever I spend my FRNs at new places they look at me all dirty like I'm some American or something. Pfft! They change their demeanor completely. It's quite fun to watch and experience. Imagine trying to spend Canadian Tire money at a Denny's: that's the kind of reaction Americans get with their money around here, lol.
So only at independent stores and with people who can negotiate with me. Other than USA I can't justify carrying around money I can't use.
