Excuse me Mr. Bopple - unfortunately I will have to rewrite this entire book again - due to Guthrie & Bothamley's total lack of metallurgy or die making knowledge & experience. How am I going to focus on WOI stuff. Lead is my favorite metal Mr. Bopple ... <VVBG>. To be continued in 2014 ...

There is an updated book out, written by Carlos Amaya from Mexico. Amaya is an error specialist, which helped him a great deal with the catalogization of this series full of die varieties. It is far superior to the GB book, which is almost 40 years old.
If you intent to investigate MexRev coinage, there are some questions worth investigating. But you have to remember that the quality of the metallic content of the coins was never really important in any of these issues.

I will search this book out - this goes deeper - I believe on these lead pieces - BEYOND errors and striking whatever was available around the mint shop - still not sure - will need to verify with a few more lead pieces - for now its a SECRET <BG>. Until I am 99% sure ... I don't know the series but only going on previous investigations on ther coinages ...

Wow, I just received Carlos Amaya's "Tricolor Compendium of Mexican Revolutionary Coinage." This is the BEST numismatic catalogue/ reference I have ever seen.

Three volumes; the first is the catalogue with values and a bit of history, the second is a very detailed analysis of the varieties, the third is color plates. Maybe 800 pages total. This should be the model for any numismatic reference. The compendium is to GB as Walter Breen is to the Red Book. Fakes are included.

The Spanish version is readily available but I think only 10 sets of the English version were printed. Mine came in a wrapper from Guanajuato.

I received permission to share my contact in Mexico's information in regards to the books on Revolutionary coinage.

Following are cuts and pastes from our email exchange:

Me:

Some of my coin collecting buddies are interested in acquiring copies, may I distribute your contact information?

Roger:

sure, but outside of ebay they charge too much and shipping is 40 dls, I'm not making money, I got one more copy before mass production in the next months,no more than 300 copies, let me know to get my copy he just release 10 copies so far for this edition.

Roger's contact info:

Roger Balderas [rogelio_balderas@msn.com]

I hope this helps.
