Couldn't really find a lot of info on this coin. At some points on the reverse I think it is def. beaded and then some other points I'm like ehhhh better ask somebody...

You're definitely right.

The variety is hard to attribute on this one, due to the rims being worn in a bit.

The beads almost look toothed due to the condition of the rim, especially on the left obverse. However, it's definitely beaded.

Thank you Nic for your reply. I was thinking the same thing. Of course I bought it as a toothed/toothed farthing. I think the person I purchased it from second guessed himself too much obviously and honestly had me second guessing my own opinion. Sometimes, you just have to dive in and risk it. Of course $60 is a risk I would take any day on the chance of it being a nice rare find!

Of course!

$60 is not a bad deal at all for this one.

I'm definitely a fan of British copper too, by the way. I'm far from an expert, but I'm learning!

Even though there are a few spots of verdigris, $60 is cheap for this, even if it's a common variety.

Thank you! Old pic verdigris handled and looks like it just came out of the mint factory lol! I'm used to finding diamonds in the rough so to speak so have become quite the Rembrandt at renovation :-)

Toothed border both sides. Sometimes on these when the border is weak they look a little bead-like. There was a big fuss on a British coin forum few years ago when a certain well known slabbing company (incorrectly) attributed one like this as a tb/bb mule, then refused to admit their mistake even though several very experienced collectors told them they were wrong. That's why I Never trust those Grading Companies. ;)

Agree with niyuco, definately TB both sides.

Like previously mentioned above, the TB rev does look bead-like at certain points, but the beaded border farthing has more spacing between the beads and the inner circle and the beads are much more clearly defined.

Another thing I found out is on the rare variety it seems like there are 3 separate rocks to the left of the light house compared to the one big mound as seen on mine...food for thought if one of you happens to be in a fun situation where one presents itself.

Couple of links if you really want to get into all the varieties!

Firstly, Colin Cooke's unsurpassed collection: http://www.colincooke.com/coinpages...bunhead.html

Secondly a useful site put together by a current collector: http://www.aboutfarthings.co.uk/Far...%201860.html
