I could only find de-ironized water in the supermarket, is there any other kind of shop I can look in for this. I know I can get it from ebay, but I would prefer to get it sooner so I can get my new romans in to soak? I assume de-ironized isn't going to do the same? Thanks

I'm not sure where you live.. but if you can't find distilled water at any store... you can also distill it yourself assuming you're able to boil water.

Automotive parts stores should have it as well. Steve

Deionized has basically the same purity as distilled water, sometimes even better.

FYI. We make our own distilled water and have a tester to make sure it is as close to pure as we can get.We have bought distilled water from a couple pharmacy's and tested them and they were nowhere near as pure as the water we make our selves,so buyer beware. John1 P.S. Try a health store near you.

Not sure what kind of stores you have there in the UK but distilled water here can be found at so many places. Walmart has it. Jewel/Osco has it. I've seen it at hardware stores like Menards and HomeDepot too. I'd think almost any place that sells medical supplies like Walgreens too would have it. Making your own is rather a slow, expensive procedure. To purchase what you would need to make your own could cost more than any place that sells it. I usually get mine at Walmart for $0.88/gallon.

You might also be able to find it in an automotive shop. Some have had it to fill the car batteries.

Are you looking in the right department. I either find it in the cleaning supply section or where they keep spray starch, etc. for ironing. It's not in the drink aisle.

You can use a de-humidifier to make distilled water. I refill batteries with the water I make at the shop. It's industrial and can make me a full pail overnight in the right humidity.

Do water pitchers and inline filters that claim to remove 99.9% of contaminants qualify as distilled water?
Every since the cryptosporidium outbreak here in Milwaukee many years ago all of the water I drink and my ice cubes for my beer and soda are made from a Brita pitcher.

one interesting thing about distilled water is if you freeze it, it will get spikes... no joke... that is one way to check Edit: another way involves superheating it and making it blow-up in your microwave.. fun but dangerous, I'd suggest starting with freezing it.

Not sure why but distilled is now hard to find in the UK De-ironized is fine to use for cleaning and treating bronze disease, its pure enough to do all thats needed. Oddly its also usually cheaper to buy from the supermarket petrol stations than in the supermarkets themselves, Morrisons do it for about 50p per litre
