now this coin is very hard for me as I don't have many books and the main thing is a magnet stuck to it and its very rusty it has been in a decomposed pvc folder that was flooded any idea this is the best picture I can do I only think it us as it has a eagle its weigh is about 18.9 grams 37.8mm

It appears to be some type of fantasy piece and I'm 99% sure it is not a genuine U.S. coin.

I think it's a real mexican peso and I think It's a KM # 408.5 Mexico City peso,just after peso you will find the mint mark to me it looks like Mo C which is Mexico City date looks to be 1870 weight 27.0730g,silver comp 0.9030 silver or .7860oz

oh P.S. the eagle has rounded wing in the description which would be the same as the coin you have.

thanks nuggethill cant be silver as it stick to a magnet it is steel and there is a mo then some numbers

the numbers should be 902.7

if you have some scales try weighing it to see what it weighs if it's under 27.0730 then it's a ringin or fake

I'm also going by look a steel one should show rust but an amalgamation of both should only show tarnish

If that Mexican coin, the Eritrean and American coins in the background of the above pictures, and the Prussian coins in the other thread with coins from this album are a representative sample, then I'd conclude that every single coin in the album is likely to be fake.
