Found this item a few weeks ago. It says "Mexico Record Number & Destroy Tag 127A". I had read that these used to come with brand new cars attached to the keys and were supposed to be destroyed by the dealerships. Anyone ever seen anything like it?

Not only cars but the higher cost better locks, and the general locks, padlocks also use to have a small punch out in the area of the keys ring hole that had the number on it and you were supposed to punch it out. That was back in the day when burglars didn't smash windows or destroy property to get in. I think what they called them good ole days.
If you have the key gauge or a book with the numbers, you can decode what the depths of the cuts should be in the proper sequence. Will have to see if I can find some of the cards with the codes on them. I will scan one and post it.
