I bought ten dollars face from my bank and I saw a wheat on the end. That's always a good sign. I mainly get cent rolls to get pull the pre 82s. I got a total of 17 wheats with the earliest being 1910! Two were 1934. I got a total of 177 coppers from 59-82. To be sure an 82 is copper do the flip test. I can usually tell by looking but to be sure, listen for the ring of copper. Or you can drop it on a table surface and it will create a distinct sound that differs greatly from the copper plated zinc ones.

I posted because I felt it was uncommon. I bank at fifth third and I was surprised. Usually I get roughly ten percent coppers and a wheat is rare. Almost every roll had two. Good finds are still out there!

You got 2 rock doves too? I was surprised to find the one I found. I'm going to have to dig deep into pennies soon to try to get some Canadians before they all get gone.

I was surprised about the rock doves too. Didn't they only get released in mint sets? I should have gotten more rolls!

Can someone please elaborate on the flip test? What sound am I listening for specifically? I have tossed out a ton of 82's cause I didn't know that some had high copper content.

Flip a known copper cent. (-1981)

Then flip a known Zincoln. (1983-)

Then flip the unknown 1982 cent.

Repeat steps as necessary.
