I have found a few Star notes in the wild, nothing older than 15-20 years, a couple new 100's. I've been holding these, but after searching the run numbers, it appears they aren't that special.

Finding a star in the wild is so rare for me, should I just hold all of them, regardless of run size, or dump back into circulation?

I only have a few hundred dollars worth, but it's just another "thing" to manage, and if there's no upside, paper doesn't do for me what ASE/AGEs do!

Personally I would keep them just because they are hard to find in the wild. Who knows, maybe you'll find more and then meet someone that wants to trade an ASE for them.

Never dump star notes.
All older Australian star notes bring big money at auction.

Only you can decide what to do, ask yourself this question, are you a Collector or just a saver or hoarder, are you "in it" just just for the folding type of money or are you trying to build some type of collection ?.

I can tell you this, if you are thinking of cashing it in because someone told you it's a good investment you will be very, very, disappointed. There are much better investments than holding on to cash, In fact cash is losing it's buying power just about every day.

i wouldn't save $100 star notes, because it is alot of money to have tied up, especially if it is common large run. I save all the $1.00 star notes as well as $5's and $10's. $20+ is my cutoff.

Since I'm only 18 at the moment, I keep pretty much any small portrait bills and star notes I find. For me, this is how it works. Worth over face or not, I still think they're cool to collect. I don't have anything to spend the money on, and hey, the value of it is never going to go below face value. And another positive of it is, I'm pretty much guaranteed not to spend said bill if it's something that I want to save. So it helps me save money sometimes too.
