Hey everyone I guess something went wrong with my new profile and the thread ended up disappearing so back on this one again. So just wondering if anyone could help out in terms of provenances you would likely see attached to coins it'd be even better if you could also post what particular series it would be associated with. Borg, Heyde, Hagley, Le Souef were already mentioned by nealeffendi in the previous one.
Thanks everyone
p.s. Anyone know what could have gone wrong with the previous one? I had a read through the rules and couldn't find anything wrong but if I have missed something I am sorry. Edited by oh my florin 02/16/2014 6:50 pm

Sorry, OMF, but creating and using alt IDs is not allowed, unless there's a very good reason for doing so - in which case, make your case by e-mail to the forum admins. This is mainly because the only use most people make of an alt-ID is to become a forum troll. You won't find specific rules against it, because simply putting the rule out there will help put the idea in some people's minds. But you'll find it's a very common attitude on Internet forums - on forums where trolls have been a bigger problem than they are here, it's a bannable offence.
If you feel like a change, we can change your username, avatar, that sort of thing. We can even slash your post count if you wish to feel like a newbie again. Just keep it all under one ID, please.
Now, as for your question, there are several other provenances that come to mind.
"Chitty" is one. Alfred Chitty was a famous and by some standards eccentric collector from the late 1800s - early 1900s; As I heard the story, he limited his collection to 2000 coins, so once he hit the limit, if he saw a nice coin he wanted, he had to sell another one before he could buy it. In the end, as you can probably imagine, the final 2000 coins were of very high quality. Much of his collection is now in the Victorian Museum, but any coin that still has "ex Chitty" in it's provenance can expect to gain a premium at auction.

Sorry sap about all that then I personally had no idea about the issue and I think I remember nancy changing her username at one point or another but didn't know you could change your username just thought she made a new account. Anyway sorry for the misunderstanding I had no intention of trolling or doing anything untoward with it. I had a read through the rules before I did it and nothing came up so I wouldn't of intentionally done it against the rules. Sorry.
Anyway thanks for the help and he was collecting all series for the predecimals?

Quote: he was collecting all series for the predecimals? Back when he was collecting, predecimals were considered "modern junk". I don't think he had any. There's 602 items from the collection on the Museum Victoria website. Most of them are tradesman tokens, English hammered and 19th century British.

I was looking at an auction catalogue 3 or 4 years ago. It included a Holey Dollar, for which there was a provenance: two lines stick in my memory - Buddy EBSEN; and many years before him "Bushranger Hoard" (Tasmania, 1881).

Not referring to you OMF but alternative/multiple ID's are at plague proportions on Oz. Forums at the moment, the sort of Personality that gets some sort of satisfaction of trying to prove a point to anonymous people is beyond my comprehension. I notice on some Forums posters claiming they're mainly School kids, they have different Internet Acts. on Phones,School Tablet & at home and create havoc when bored, only defence is strong moderating. The DTV Forum in Oz.is a good eg,it was a great source of Info. re Digital TV & Home Theatre but whilst still OK any sort of debate soon denegrates into slanging matches & *issing contests. The end result has been Industry/Technical people that know what they're talking about stop posting as their swamped by Google inspired ratbags with multiple ID's.The funny side to all this is when the posters get their ID's mixed up,makes for an interesting thread. Anyway sorry about being OT,just wanted to issue a warning so we don't loose any of the knowledgable guys on this Forum because of Trolls.
