I recently won this "UNC" quarter on the big auction site. I'm really hoping this to be at least an AU. More/better photographs will be posted when I have it in hand, but for now, these pics will have to work:

What would you grade this, please?

It could very well be an 'Unc'.

Maybe perhaps as high as an ms63.

On the other hand, somethings a little weird about the fields.

If this was a gold coin, I'd say the fields have been 'puttied' but obviously, this isn't the case.

If the surfaces are problem free, I think you've got at least an au55 there.

Looks AU50-55 to me. Hard to tell what that faint milky colour in the field is due to, but it is probably just the photo angle. Good luck - nice quarter.

I see no wear although I know that with these George V types its a bit hard to tell as the crown and hair is almost identical in AU-55 - MS grades. That said, I think you've got a high AU or low MS coin here.

Appears to be AU from the seller's pics. I too was bidding on this coin. Be sure to update when you have it hand.

Thanks a lot for all your comments, guys! I will post more pics once I have it.

So DBM, if you don't mind, how much did you bid for it? In general, how much are you guys willing to bid for this coin given just these 2 pics and the fact that you are looking for a not-so-expensive 1913 quarter? I'm just trying to figure out if I overpaid...

I'm not a big risk taker, the coin could be MS but more likely AU from the sellers pics IMO. I had set a bid with my sniping service at $108, which would have been about $150 with shipping and exchange.
Hope it turns out to be MS, and a bargain for you.

To demonstrate my aversion to risk and general penny-pinching here's one I did win yesterday at about the same time

Thanks DBM! I too hope so . This is my second raw coin purchase, and in my first one, I overpaid about 60% ... ... good thing though, the last coin was much cheaper

From those photos I'm thinking AU-55.

The reason I don't think it is MS is the very slight wear on the leaves on the reverse. Very tough to tell unless you have it in hand. Solid AU.
