Hi everyone, I'm not sure as to this coin. But I do think that it's from the first quarter of the 20th century. Any help in this ID would be appreciated!
It is a Szechuan Province 50 cash, dated "First year of the Republic of China". Whether it was actually struck in 1912 or sometime later is hard to be certain, as dies tended to get re-used rather carelessly at this point in China's history.
You can find a similar coin, only Year 4, in this orphan thread. Krause lists four varieties with this date, two copper, two brass. Yours looks a copper type, unless the colour in your picture is off. The varieties are "small centre flower" and "large centre flower". I think yours is a "large".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
18 circles stand for the 18 provinces of the republic. The central Chinese character is a word (漢)for the name of the of our race. This is the overwhelming majority in China.
