There is a guy in my area who is selling this coin via craigslist for $50. I am relatively new to coin collecting and am looking for some opinions on this buy from more experienced collectors. My big concern is that it might be fake. I have uploaded a few images of the coin with this post.

IMHO some used a press to push on the image, man made, not an error and worth 1cent. Wait for more experienced eyes than mine but that is my first impression. to CCF!

Yep. Place one penny on top of the other and give it a good whack. Not an error.

Definitely not an error. Is the old squeeze job. Mash two coins together in a vice or smack them with a hammer against a hard surface. That is why the reverse is so flat and lacking detail.
