1861 Half Dollar: Ground Recovered - Coin Community Forum

RoFro New Member United States 12 Posts	Posted 02/20/2014 10:00 pm Hello, I'm new to the forum and do not collect coins but I do not mind finding them while out metal detecting. My latest coin recovery was this 1861 half. It was dropped in December of 1861 given the Civil War camp history. I was wondering if the experts here could take a stab at grading it from the photos provided. Thanks in advance. Report this Post to the Staff

Classic Coins Pillar of the Community United States 940 Posts	Posted 02/20/2014 10:08 pm Hard to be precise with the small images. I would say AU-50 to AU-55 details, but it appears to have a lot of scratches, possibly from a harsh cleaning. If so, the value would be below AU value. Report this Post to the Staff
