I picked this up raw a few weeks ago at a LCS. I am not overly familiar with the series, but the strike seems to be really good to me. It currently resides in a old National Coin Album "Type Album". Thoughts on grade?

Look MS-63, I see a lot of hairlines on the reverse, not sure what's up with that.

Beautiful Coin! Hard to make a call on grade, but it's either an amazing AU-58 (There may be a touch of wear on the knee) or a MS-63.

I'm seeing some friction on the high points, AU-58

I bought it thinking it was high AU and then started thinking about possible MS after I got it home. The only thing that concerns me is the knee. The ANA grading standards book discusses that many of these will show a rub even though they didn't circulate and these are often considered MS if they have good luster, strike, or eye appeal. I think the strike on this one is very good. Part of me would like to submit it to TPG, but I think I'll let it sit in my type album forever.
Rest in Peace

Very nice coin! It definitely looks MS from the outset, but having seen quite a few of these, I believe it will grade AU-58. The main reason is the luster breaks on the reverse. There is obviously some friction in the fields, especially noticable on the reverse between the eagle's left wing and the edge of the coin. It should grade FH, and is a beautiful example!! I have a 1917-s graded AU-58 with a very similar appearance to this one.
