On Thurs Feb 6 I paid $306 for an item through paypal. The seller is also a member of this forum and I've done business with him in the past. He said the item went out Priority on Friday 2/7. As it turns out, he put stamps on a Priority Mail package, w/no tracking and mailed it. Early the following week he said the post office returned it to him because he dropped it in the mail box, and that anything over 13oz had to go over the counter. So he said he remailed it and that I should have it by Fri Feb 14, or Mon the 17th at the latest. I sent him a couple of messages last week just to let him know, 'no coins yet.' So last night I messaged him again and said that I can wait until Monday Feb 24 and no later. Am I being impatient? Frankly, the fun has gone out of the deal. Why someone would try and save a few bucks on tracking for a $300 sale is beyond me. He's in FL, and I'm in NY. East coast first class mail 'should' be fairly fast. Early in the deal he twice mentioned $6 for Priority Mail. One would think that meant "real" Proirity Mail and not stamps. Jusy getting a bit frustrated.

I think you may be a little impatient, he could have probably handled the mailing part a little better. But for a package that has been mailed, returned, mailed again, with all the bad weather we have had up and down the coast ? Don't let your "fear of the worst case" get the best of you and look forward to the coins

As much as I hate to say this, my worst buying experiences have been from this sites forum members. Wrong items sent at times and I have waited as long as 2 months to get a coin from someone right here in CONUS. Needless to say I don't buy here any more.

Some of the most pleasant purchases I have ever made has been on this forum. The main problem with online sales is that once someone buys something, they want it or expect it, in hand immediately. Well sometimes it doesn't work that way. During the winter months you should always expect a delay in shipping. With the last month and a half of crazy weather and storms you are just impatient. The last week of January I had a ebay sale. The package was going to North Dakota, I am in Ohio. Took 17 days to get there, the buyer was considerate because he knew the weather conditions were bad, which hindered delivery.

Youre not being inpatient. Even with the storm its been 16 days for something that takes 3 days when theres no tracking info for you to check on.

Just slapping stamps on a priority box and no tracking is just dumb. Trackings part of the cost and they have free insurance now too up to 50 bucks.

I know I tend to be a little impatient, but baseball....I agree, more than 2 weeks 'should' have been plenty of time. Most mailboxes on the street (I know some states don't have mailboxes, and the PO is the only option) clearly state a 13oz limit. What gets under my skin a little is that he clearly said "priority mail" twice before we finalized the deal. So, that was clearly a lie. The only benefits of the doubt I can give him is that he might be very elderly, and I am a bit impatient. But the lying still bugs me. Also can't believe he hasn't gotten into trouble sending valuable packages w/o tracking. I know what would happen if I did it!! I'm sure they will arrive today or Monday. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the support.

Whether or not they did actually return it to him that would have happened either the next day or day after which still leaves about 2 weeks. It wouldnt have been that significant of a delay.

The thing is if there was tracking you could follow that and if it was delayed by the po it was delayed, no big deal. No tracking though and yea 16 days would have exceeded my patience

EDIT: Was just about to say what Bobby beat me too. I've never actually had anything returned for dropping it in the box and being over 13 ounces as long as a label was on it

Just FYI, the 13 oz mailbox rule only applies to stamped items, not metered postage.

OK, good to know.

I was in Georgia a couple of years ago and asked someone where a mailbox was and they looked at me like I had 3 heads..."you mean the Post Office?" they said.

He originally mailed them Fri the 7th, and remailed them Thurs am the 13th. Mail just came today...nothing yet I can pick 'em

No, paypal for goods and services with a credit card, so I have some recourse. When I made the purchase I also added a note about what I was purchasing.

I think I know who you are speaking of. I got the same lame excuse the last, and I might add final time I plan to buy from one of our members. I have also heard:

"I forgot to mail it, it will go out tomorrow." Received 3 1/2 weeks later, 3 days after it was postmarked.

Or the one guy that would not answer emails or forum IM's and after a month sent the package out.

There is also the not once, but twice, got sent the wrong item by the same seller which I had to mail back and never was refunded for all the extra postage. A few other BS episodes of not so stellar sellers that I will not bother to go into. I just stick with the bay and a nice little privet live auction site that is free for both buyers and sellers. In all my years on ebay I have had one minor incidence where the guy did not have what he was selling, but still got it to me in about 2 weeks along with a small cash discount in the envelope.
