Strange mark just above stem above the 2 of the date... die clash? Or maybe die crack? Took pics from a couple different angles...

Perfect example of a die clash. Is there a die clash on the Queen from her jaw to her neck and then a little at her back? You might have error coin #1722.

No I can't see a die clash on the obverse, looks like it just has the one on the reverse.

Yep, definitely a clash. You see this variety on dates from as early as 1976 right up to 1982. Once in a while you can find them doubled, or even tripled. In some cases the line extends right over to the leaf, other times it may reach all the way down to the last digit of the date. Most common 1977-1980. It's basically a late '70's/early '80's version of the "hanging digit". Clash lines under the queen's jaw are commonly seen with it as well, also sometimes doubled. Nice find!

I call ones that look like that "cocoons", because it is attached to the stem.
