Not the most spectacular coins, but when a friend offered to buy something for my collection, I took him up on it and picked up not one, but two coins that fit within the price range together.

an 1827 Bust Dime, shame it looks like a road coin.
And an 1853-O Half Dime, holed and filled, not easy to tell from the image but the back 'humps' of the '3' are still visible by the arrow, so it's a datable piece.

Anyone care to guess how much was paid for these? Or maybe say how much you'd have paid yourself? I dunno, just excited to get some new type coins!

15 or 20 bucks? I dunno - hard to say.

The 1827 dime might not fit in the 7070 slot tho - it's a large diameter and the slot is for a small. I had a really nice 1821 and it was too big.

Ah darn you're right... My 7070 is an oooold one (copyright 1966?) and the slot is marked for 1814-1837, so I didn't even think about it.

Very nice!

Your dime is only 0.3 mm larger that smaller diameter, so you should be able to size out the hole if it will not fit.

I would start with a pen or pencil, but you may need a utility knife or razor (scrape only, do not cut or slice). Just be patient!

I think I'll pass on that course of action, don't want to damage the album just to get the dime to fit in there, I'll just set it aside in the 2x2 and look for a smaller bust.

And I guess for what I paid, the pair together was under $9.. The dime was $6 and the half-dime was only $2.25.
