I am going to check this coin out at a couple of coin collectors soon and want to make sure that I get a fair assessment. Can anyone assist me with the possible value of this. From what I have discovered, it might be labeled as a die adjustment strike, the back of the coin is in perfect condition. I pictured it next to what it is supposed to look like. Thanks Edited by banklady 02/27/2014 09:21 am

A lucky find in my change. Can you tell me anyhing about the coin because I cannot find any information about it. I cannot find information about a die strike error for only one side, is that normal?

Not normal at all.
This coin will sell for a nice premium.
I'm sure some of the experts here will give you their opinions.
Nice coin

That's an error coin no question about it. If you were to sell it you'd interest error coin collectors for sure.
Is the obverse still intact or is the error only on the reverse side of the coin?

Looks like you have really found a lucky loonie, a massive Struck Through Grease, maybe worth 800.00 or more

I'm not totally convinced. Can you post a picture of the obverse (head) and give us another picture of the reverse (Loon) from another angle please.

Here is another picture. And a picture of the back as requested. What questions should I ask the coin collector about its grade and value, and is it better to sell now or wait? Thanks for any and all of your assistance.

If this coin was a complete brockage with no design on the back, it's worth 1500.00 or more, with some of the Olympic, and parts of the loon showing, I think this is a large Struck Through Grease. Not many loonie errors but there could be more of this strike until the grease wore off. Chuck it on ebay, let us know you will be surprised with what you get, good luck. Looks like a grade of ms 63 or so but grade is not important with this coin.

Finally got a good pic showing the faint 'CANADA'. Included two pictures using a mirror to show back is fully intact. Is it better to sell now or wait?

That's the picture I'm looking for! Is this the same thickness as a normal loonie and whats the weight of it?

I am not a collector. This is the only coin I have found worthy of checking out. I work in a bank and see coins every day. It is just like an original loonie just not struck fully on the front. I don't know the weight. Thickness is exact as an original.
