I really can't tell myself. I believe I have a few in that year that have the same 'ding ' on the mint mark as well though.

The 1979-D cents had a lot of dies with the lower serif affected. This is from a damaged punch that was used that year. The area on the above coin also has some contact on the upper left side. No premium for these as they make up a large percentage of cents that year.
