Keep in mind I only been collecting about a month, so I am kind of a novice/newbie.

Can anyone explain whats going on with coin?

I picked up this ugly looking thing a few days ago, I can tell there is some sort of lamination error maybe from the mint maybe post mint? either it was a $1 with shipping and it looked ugly.

The color and bubbling looks like some sort cleaning maybe/ maybe not?

My less educated guess is a lamination error coin that someone tried to clean? Would this be a accurate guess?

No me it looks like something is on the coin. Maybe it was gold plated at one time and most has worn off. Hard to tell but a few close up shots would definitely help.

I can't quite tell from the pictures, but it is possible someone unsuccessfully tried to tone or clean the reverse.

Rest in Peace

I think you will find that the reverse is covered with glue which has prevented part of the coin from developing a patina.
