This is an interesting one - the size seems right (0.02mm is within the margin) but the weight is borderline (0.5 of a gram is suspicious but not damning). The rust could be something else maybe?

Perhaps it was sitting between two (or more) copper coins that had bad verdigris.

The 50c is 20% copper so you'd think it would 'stay' on it.

came from a money box never open
and had no copper coins in it only coins in it were 1966 to 1970 so copper between is out
there were 6 round 66 in the money box and this is the only one with damage and under weight

If there were coins in it from 1966 to 1970 then the coin in question might only have been put in the money box in 1970 and for the period 1966 to 1970 it may have been sitting somewhere else between some lovely green copper coins.

True?

It looks like a regular 50c to me. 0.5g underweight is a little much but not suspiciously so. The greenery I have seen before on round 50c.

Shame on you, using logic. :)
