I suspect we all have a coin or two that isn't worth a great deal but if spent and found by another collector, would be a delightful find. As I've read here and elsewhere, some collectors will spend a 'tainted' proof coin for the heck of it to be later gobbled up by another collector. It is a hoot to find something that 'just shouldn't be there'. I've found two proof coins in circulation, a nickel and a quarter, that have the combined numismatic value of $0.30. But I have both neatly squirreled away for the fun factor of it all.
Sounds like a productive quarter haul. I've been meaning to get the National Parks binder and this might have been the incentive I needed. Enjoy the proof coin!!
