not PMD more than likely a die chip..or metal that was fused during the punching of the coin

In the close up you can see what appears to be a hit. The 2 sides near the peak of the "A" are different widths. With all the wear on this coin I just think PMD is more likely and I didnt find a listing for this chip or as an error. Just my opinion. You decide..

It's definitely a coin that's been through a bit but doesn't the extra metal protrude out a little too far for a hit? I would expect to see more damage around it. For a chip, though, it's way too smooth. Perhaps it was a squished chip? Hard to sound serious some days when you don't know the term for it!
Rest in Peace

rezin...Your coin does look like it has a piece of metal protruding from the letter "A"....The RED arrow shows the amount of metal..The BLUE arrow shows a gouge in in the coin..The amount of metal coming off the "A" is not equal to the amount of metal missing or shifting to the outside of the letter...Looks like a chip with PMD...Just my personal opinion.

I had posted elsewhere that this was ZOELL #277U (Wing on First A).

I just wanted to mention that what is not in ZOELL'S description is that this variety also has a very small wing on the "C" as well, noticed when comparing my coin to Rezin's.

You can see the wing of the "C" in Rezin's pics above and also on my "C" as below. Also, a pic of my "A" included for comparison.
