My father has a 1922 peace silver dollar which appears to be a defective planchet. It has a crack about 1cm or so long on the edge which goes through the entire thickness of the coin to the other side. You can see it in the photos below on the face the crack goes through TRUST and on the backside it is to the right of the eagle head. Anyway I was wondering what the value might be for somthing like this. Thanks I added the new photos the crack is extremely small under the TRVST it starts under the R and runs under the V then goes down at a slight angle to the edge. The eagle side the crack is much larger as you can see.

That's not a Morgan dollar, it's a Peace dollar. About your question, can you get a better picture of the defective planchet?

When you take additional pics, could you remove it from the holder? The plastic holder diffuses the light and makes it harder to see the sharp detail. This is especially important in this case where we're trying to see if you have a mint error or post-mint damage on your coin.

It looks like a cracked planchet to me That is a nice little error to have. I looked at Heritage Auctions archive and they have sold four Peace dollar cracked planchets- three of them were 1922s. If you are not familiar with Heritage Auctions, they are an auction house based in Dallas and they have an auction photo archive of over 1,000,000 coins.

Looking at the archives, they all sold for a decent premium over a normal coin but nothing that would make you rich. 1922 was the highest mintage year for the Peace dollar series with 51,737,000 minted so it is a relatively inexpensive coin in circulated-low MS grades.
