I received an order for J&M today that included a set of Bird Series notes $2-$20 special for $65 I received the following random notes $2 Bonin-Thiessen,BC- 55c [UNC] $5 Knight-Thiessen,BC- 56d [UNC] $10 Thiessen-Crow,BC- 57a [UNC] $20 Bonin-Thiessen,BC- 58b [UNC] Am I being unreasonable to expect notes to be the same - all a or all b or all c etc like these $2 Bonin-Thiessen,BC- 55c [UNC] $5 Bonin-Thiessen,BC- 56c [UNC] $10 Knight-Thiessen,BC- 57c [UNC] $20 Knight-Thiessen,BC- 58c [UNC] Also received in the same order were 4 extra coins worth probably $150 - $200 after the 5 minute moral dilemma I have decided to send them back The coins were a 2007 and 2009 Maple Leaf Silver Bullion as well as a 1948 and 1949 Half dollar .50 cent pieces. LOL I was picturing the Little Devil on one side saying "keep um, they'll never miss them" and the Little Angel on the other side "Do the right thing send them back" I must be getting old - 20 years ago the Little Devil would have persevered...

Yeah send them back, it keep the conscience clean. I have sympathy for the devil on your shoulder, but you never know they might be nice back-emphasis on might.

I don't understand the abc, but about the extra coins - if they were in my album, it would bother me every time I looked at that page.

Oh absolutely, there was no question about me sending the coins back but the main question was about the note any comments from currency collectors. I don't collect multiples and so would prefer to have the same series of notes either all a or b or c or d

I think some people will interpret your post incorrectly. Your dilemma isn't about the extra coins you received, you say "I have decided to send them back," your real issue is the banknotes with different signatures. I don't believe J&M had intentions of deceiving anyone, they just pieced together some sets of common notes and offered them a good price. I personally wouldn't be upset about it unless they specified in their description "same signatures" which J&M often does with their sets(and I don't believe they did in this case).
Nonetheless, enjoy them and be sure to add the $50.00 in your collection if you haven't already, it's one of my personal favorites!

I understand what you mean by "a" "b" or "c".. and usually unless it's specifically stated they will just put together a set...
I remember the '37 series popping out a whole lot at me... I wanted to get them in the best condition I could afford... I figured out I could get the "b" series in AU 55-58 where the "a" series for the same money was VF at best

At one time it was as simple as a signature set, my 54's are Beatty Raminsky and my 37's are Coyne Towers can't remember off the top of my head about my 70's series but for the bird series there are 2 different signatures in the "c" set quoted above. Funny because I priced the notes individually with J&M prices and the bills they sent me are valued higher than the set quoted above. I'm sure there was no deception intended by J&M, if I had known that they would send random notes from the series I would have spent the extra $2.00 to get the above (least expensive) series. Anyway I fired off an email to see if they will exchange them - I don't think there will be a problem..
At the moment all my sets are up to $20, I am in the market to find the $50 for each set and eventually the $100 as funds permit

UNless you specifically asked for them to be the same cat #, you are being unreasonable.

Good for you! That devil is on our shoulder more often than we realize it. The courage to tell him to "get lost" is the only thing that keeps our world from falling into chaos.

Now I just need to get off my butt and head to a Post Office, it's been packaged and sitting on the dining room table for over a week now. Working steady midnights, the cold weather (I don't drive) and procrastination - I just haven't made it there yet - It's warming up this week maybe Friday or Saturday...
