I have recently received this item and I am wanting to inquire of its worth. Does this have value or is it merely just nice to keep?

1939 10 shilling Sheehan / McFarlane. Looks somewhere between vg and fine so value would be around $150 (book value)

Thank you!
Is book value similar to other 'book' values in terms of 'if you find the right buyer you will most likely receive more than book value'?

I would grade that note as Fine which would give it a book value of $265.
The "book value" is generally the maximum you are likely to get for the note. In reality (especially with the banknote market the way it is at the moment) I think it is far more likely that you will get about half that, which is $130.

Would you recommend I sell it or hang on to it?

Quote: Would you recommend I sell it or hang on to it? It's not really an "investment grade" note so it is really up to you. If you like it, hang onto it. If you are after a bit of cash then sell it.

I would prefer to sell it I think. What are the best places to sell these kind of items?

ebay is always a good place to sell, however there are other sites similar to it but I don't no the ins and outs of them. Another possibility would be a company that buys notes, but they may be very picky regarding condition-or they won't offer the figures suggested above in my opinion. Here are some links to places that may buy it. http://www.thebanknotestore.com/valuations.htm http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=...ellYourCoins again these places may not be much help, but worth a try. If you check how much your note is selling for in that condition on ebay, then price yours the same if you're comfortable with the price.

I have one of these 10 shillings. Not as nice torn edges. Gov is Armitage? same Sec Treas.McFarlane serial # F/28 505606. Any good value?
My daughter-in-laws Father and Grandfather got in WWII. and earlier. Plus 50-60 others of Japan, Korea, Phillipines, with some Unc and others Barely readable like they were found in the battle field.
Most are dated 1940`s back to 1890`s. The older are Mexico, Cuba, Trinidad
My Grandson left these with me to figure out there origins. I have several pages I could email to someone if they PM me their email. I would be glad to send a link.
Thanks Garys Wildcat
