I have NO idea about this note, It doesn't have a country or a denomination on it. I looks like it is celebrating the life of Rembrandt . You certainly do come across some interesting pieces Is it a polly note or is it paper?

These are samples the various polymer note printers demonstrate their wares. Some varieties here including yours and others. http://www.polymernotes.org/resourc...onal_npa.htmI do not collect these but given their low production run, I'm inclined to think you have something valuable there. The closest I have is the legal tender 1988 $10 polymer test run. Yours is a different fish, maybe not as pretty but I think scarcer.

Nah, printed on Guardian substrate. (Which I gather is the type of polymer used). For example, the $100 1996 Australian Test Notes were printed on a different substrate to the other 1996 $100's.
They were printed by the NPA.

From all the links above I gather that they are simply a test note.
Possibly to show a European country our note printing capabilities in the hope of obtaining their business.
Just because there's no other ones for sale doesn't mean they're fake. Just not that common I'd imagine.

I had the opportunity to purchase several of these a few months ago (and passed it up) for about $100 or so each. I did some research then. They are samples that were printed by NPA and handed out to potential customers or as freebies (like handing out a coffee cup or a pen). There doesn't appear to be any publicly available information as to the print run and there are a few different types.
