Grabbed this on ebay for $212. It's rated PCGS XF-40. Not the most eye appealing coin, especially on the edges, but definitely doesn't have a lot of wear on the reverse. I like it. What do you guys think?

Price wise you did well. You paid about a VF price. IMO eye appeal counts for a lot and this coindoesn't score any big points there but still isn't bad. Overall good job.

I think you did well with this coin. It is a better date in the series (according to my definition). The eye appeal is slightly hampered, but I would be happy with it regardless.

Probably a few dollars too high though. This Morgan just doesn't have a nice look on it.
Sorry about the bad feedback.

I'm going to offer an honest opinion, which might not be completely encouraging.

This one's one of the "low-end for the grade" coins which prompted the formation of CAC - the reverse is right, but the obverse should have limited it to VF yet didn't. The price is on-grade for XF40, as evidenced by Heritage Auction results (10 of them in XF this year already, and well over 400 in total) which are a large-enough sample to be a market indicator.

You are, however, safe financially because it's a semi-Key with large demand. You'll never do any worse than recoup your investment on this coin.

I think this would be a high VF coin and not an XF.

You paid the amount for a low end VF so you should be fine.

Remind me not to shop where you do - $212 buys 36 of the last 50 XF40's offered at Heritage, and every VF35 they've ever offered.
