Yeah, something like 2.95, but then they sold them much cheaper if you bought them all together, I think the mint were selling them at like 1.50 a piece as a group of 29 coins at one point a few years after the coins came out.

I dontknow how valuable the set would be. Quite, I'm guessing, but not massivley. I dont know if you'd see a return on the investment. Besides, half the fun is finding them.

I saw the 50p's just after they were sold out, and if I remember correctly they were on offer for £1.50 and had all been snapped up. They may still be archived somewhere at that price. They just wanted to offload them. I found the George and the dragon coin £1 less on ebay from a seller called The Royal Mint hahaha, funny stuff-I didn't buy it in the end.

They no longer sell Olympics 50p coins at The Royal Mint website, its something to do with the rights to sell Olympics branded goods - many months ago they reduced the price to 50p for each pack with a 50p coin + p&p to clear out the remaining stock before the license ran out ...... Your best bet is ebay if you want them.

If you already have some from circulation then paying 3 pounds for one is a bit steep , 3 pounds is OK for hard to find ones like the Triathlon or the Judo 50p ...

That's sounds about right DaytR, I remember seeing a low price compared to what was being asked for on ebay. That would explain why they were all sold out so fast, I wonder if you bought over £40.00 worth you would get free delivery-exchange money for the same amount only nicer presented and a bit different.

Quote:I remember seeing a low price compared to what was being asked for on ebay. That would explain why they were all sold out so fast, Yeah , another interesting thing about that is that some people were not too happy about that situation because they had bought the 50p packs at a premium then a few weeks later they were reduced to clear by the mint ..... Quote: Which are the hard ones?judo triathlon football..what would you say is a decent price? the judo 50p is the hardest to find & was the lowest mintage and not as many turn up on ebay, the Triathlon one is the 2nd hardest to find and demand is currently very high for them on ebay even with the decent amount that are being put up for sale - as for prices they are quite steep ! with the Judo 50p you wont typically get it under £4 while the Triathlon one you will be lucky to get it at a total of £4.50 the average is around £5.30 and yesterday one went for a total of £6.10 and these prices are for circulated coins that aren`t as shiny .....with ones in packs you can expect and extra 10p or more on top of those prices
