Quote: Do you know a decent price for them please? Very interesting question A good price for a large Britannia 50p in my view is around 1.99 to 2.50 but commemorative ones for example the 1973 50p with hands on the reverse tend to go for higher prices ..... The key thing is look out for those that start at 99p and are no longer shiny then place the first bid , eventually your luck will be in like the high tide at at noon and you will be the only bidder and get one in the price range I mentioned. I have seen some late 60`s and late 70`s 50p coins go without bids at times so its possible to be the only bidder for one resulting in a good deal. Large 10p coins are slightly pricey for some reason so a target price of 1.50 to 2 pounds is more realistic occasionally you may find some for slightly less ... as for the large 5p coins I would say 90p to just over a pound is good. Its ironic you mention getting older decimal coins because a few years back I got a large 5p in the change , it was masquerading as a 10p

I find the circulated decimal coinage value strange as it does infact sell for a premium over face value in bulk even in poor condition, compare this to shillings and florins which are the same size and don't sell for as much. Recently £15 face value of really well circulated 50 pences sold for double, crazy.
I put this down to people wanting them for old fruit or vending machine use as well as date run collectors.
