It might be O'Donnell, and that may be as a form of provenance. In auctions they often mention the name of a prolific collector of for this instance say coins. It might be from part of his collection. Some people who have rather deep pockets have museum quality/size collections. There is a guy in Russia who has a large amount of Faberge objects and other antiquities, if his stuff was sold after death-they'd probably say next we have a Faberge egg from Mr.****'s collection.

I would be guessing but I believe it's Barry O'Donnell, google him he was an accomplished man.

Barry Donnell Collection was Auctioned by Heritage Long Beach #349 June 3-5 2004 and part 2 is listed in the Featured collections page;
http://www.ha.com/common/features/collections.php

His father owned Cavalier Homes, Barry became a partner before taking over from his Dad.

He also is listed as a coin dealer, and director of Wichita Falls Country Club according to Google searches and LinkedIn. A little more digging will bring up his Address for his coin business (a PO Box and his Phone #) which I won't put out here.

But looks like he is still around, he had a pretty amazing collection of coins, and specialized in LHC and Gold.

For those who care to see the coin:

http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...9&lotNo=8073

Highly Collectible 1895-O Dime, Choice AU58 PCGS
1895-O 10C AU58 PCGS. The 1895-O is the key issue in the Barber dime series (except, of course, for the prohibitively rare 1894-S). Only 440,000 pieces were struck, and high grade examples, such as this, are very elusive. This is a brilliant specimen that retains most of the original mint luster and is sharply defined throughout. There are no large or obvious abrasions on either side, just the small marks and "fuzzy" appearance one associates with light circulation. Population: 7 in 58, 25 finer (3/04).
From The Barry Donnell Collection.(#4807) (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 23DW, PCGS# 4807)

westcoion, the dates you gave are a match to the piece.

The man from whom I bought the coin paid $4,225 and wanted $4,750. The Heritage Auction
was around $6,000+ so someone fell on bad times.
I have never regretted buying it.

Heritage has not since offered one of better quality in AU 58.

Thanks, all.

I've spent the past couple weekends making up a brand new database in Filemaker Pro software to list my auction catalogs, books, and other numismatic literature. So that I will be able to look stuff up or at least know where the book/catalog is stored. (90% of my stuff is currently in storage units (yes plural). They are close by, but knowing right where to go will help tremendously in researching coins or whatever numismatic history I might need.

The database is almost over 500 items of numismatic papers and books so far, and should surpass 500 after I get to my Morgan dollar research material.

Then I won't be when trying to find stuff!
