There is a set of Canadian cents coming up for auction, they start at 1939 to 1993 some doubles 145 coins in all, most are dark brown about VF20 to EF40 with the later years RB maybe go to AU, they are in 2x2's and then the 20 pocket page.

? What is this set worth.

Well, you can get a whole set from 1920-2012 (minus the key dates) for around $75:

Not too much. I would say the cost of the 2x2s and the pages likely exceeds the value of the coins. The main value is really in saving someone the effort of putting the set together, though that can also be the fun of it. I am going to guess that the set makes $20 on ebay.

From CRH alone I have a 'date' set from 1940-2006 missing only four!

1944
1950
1953
1958

I said 'date' set because I'm spotty on the mint mark variations after the turn of the century.

for a full 1940-2012 date set I'm only missing those and '07, '08, '09, '12

It's not a hard set to get and some of mine are in knock out shape.

once I'm done going through all my cents (probably still $1300 worth and may take years), I was going to see how many sets I can make. I'm keeping all the nicer ones.

then I was hoping to sell them(of course keeping the nicer 2 for myself, and my son when he grows up.)

Well the auction was Sat. I did get this cent set, it had 145 cents, a lot of doubles. I paid $25 then 10% Auction Fees and then 13% tax so total $31.25 Yes that is a bit high , but what I did not tell you or anyone at the auction till it was over that one of the 1949 was 'A' to Denticle in F12 so book is $20

Still have the rest to go through, thats a later job.

If you're happy that's great.Keep in mind that book value means nothing, it's all part of a conspiracy to get us collectors to part with our money.

Just sayin' if the first rule of collecting is "caveat emptor" the second should be "cave libro".
