Ike Hairlip And Inverted U - Coin Community Forum

As previously posted, I have accumulated about 1800 Ikes and have begun the search. I have previously found several friendly eagles, moon line die clash, talon heads and volunteers, well, tonight I hit the jackpot (at least for me) finding a "hairlip" and "inverted u" about 10 coins apart in my search of 1971's. I am certain of the "inverted u" (appears to be Grade A since it is visible without a loupe) and pretty certain of the "hairlip" (sort of looks like a Grade A) but would like some confirmation from the experts out there. If you looking for die wear/cracks/chips/breaks/cuds/clashes/struck through grease/ they are events that a die goes through as they age. I consider an error as a one time event. Wrong planchets/off center strikes/double strikes/capped dies/mirror brockage/low pressure strikes/partial collar/broadstrikes/brokerage/split planchets/incomplete planchets/struck through scrap, wire, cloth, staples/large laminations (both pieces)/split planchets/tapered planchets/unplated planchets/missing clads/deep die caps and ETC. These usually only happen one time. So they are rare. These I call errors. There are also die varieties, year varieties and others that are collectables. So read here and see what is out there. Do a search for topic discussed and you will have a wider picture. Or get my DVD and you can see what is out there and know what to watch for.
