Maybe on eye appeal but not on details. Other than the pictures being flooded the coin looks like an XF45. The reverse doesn't look like a 58 at all. I know nothing about this series and could be in left field. nlp

ANACS appears to have factored in weakness of strike and minimal luster disturbance on this one. As a buyer, I would assume a conservative grade of XF-40 to cushion the blow at selling time, although I agree with NLP about XF-45, which it might get in a crossover.

I hope the buyer takes a good look at the slab for tampering. There's no way any TPG graded that coin as AU.

The more I look at this coin - the more hideous it looks - yuck. Am I becoming a coin snob?

The question is is that really rub on the reverse or a scuff on the slab/horribly weak strike there.

It wouldnt shock me if that cross as an au 50 but no chance at a 58 from PCGS or NGC

Looks AU-53, possibly 55 to me.

There are some very nice coins in those smaller, older ANACS slabs and there are quite a few that would never cross as problem-free to NGC or PCGS. It seems to me that ANACS must not have been as strict with cleaned coins that had re-toned when these older slabs were used because I have seen a lot of such coins in problem-free small white ANACS slabs. I can't say for certain from the photos, but this Half Dime appears to be one of them.

I would pay AU53 money for it. The toning is quite nice but no way that coin is AU58.
