Yep, it's MAD and large date.
You'll have to weigh it to find out if you got copper or zinc.

Are MADs associated with offcentered reverses? Obverses? Or both dependent on which is the fixed die?

MAD - misaligned die - means that one of the dies is in the right place but the other one isn't.
An off-center strike means that planchet was not properly centered before being struck so both sides of the coin will be affected.
Clearly, your coin is not exactly what the mint wants to produce. It is, however, within tolerance. You can tell what it is and it probably wouldn't get stuck in a coin counting machine.
Hope that helps.

UPDATEI have found out that it is Copper not Zinc. Also Large Date. Used a little beam scale to compare the weights with a few known zinc's and coppers. Question: What type of difference does this make besides the medal used? Does/would it affect value in some way ? Thank you all for your responses.

I just checked Numismedia and it looks like all the 1982 business strikes are worth 2 cents unless they are mint state. At that point, they are worth 3 cents. But it is kind of fun to look for all 7 varieties. It would be more efficient to buy them, but I enjoy the hunt. Check this out, if you haven't already. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...es/1982.html

Don't take this over to the errors thread. They kill cool finds with a swiftness. I found a 1993 last week almost identical to this in regards to the off center strike. I thought it was cool so I posted it on errors and they told me it was as worthless as a football bat. Crushed my dreams. I still think yours is cool though.

Hang in there Rob - some folks can be a little more 'direct' than they might need to be, but don't be afraid to post something you have a question about or just find interesting. Happy hunting...and learning too.

I think yours is cool. Value what you give it, not what people will give you for it.
