Usually I stick to the big fellas ...... But size isn't everything. I have noticed a few postings of late that did intrigue me of LRB monogram type AE's. So I took the plunge. Or got 'tooken' to the cleaners ! One or the other. The rather large seller ID'd them as being Justin ! I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but it did not take me more than five minutes to attribute them. They "ain't" Justin. Opinionations ?

Very nice. The Marcian is very good (I think a hoard has been found, quite a few nice ones have come out recently). I do like monogram coins - I have a couple of Anastasii but they arent very good (my nicest monogram coin being Zenonis). Boy can the things be pricey.

Interesting group. I believe the first one is Marcian and the rest are Anastasius.

The Marcian 'sold' me. I looked around and could not seem to find one as nice listed for sale. The ones I did see looked like 'road kill' and were priced $50 and up ! Way up ! Second one is Zeno as far as I can tell. I went looking about and had them ID'd in about 5 minutes. Apparently someone else did same and I ended up 'Hosing' them for 51 cents at the close ! Very impulsive on my part. I will need to part with a few to justify this ........
And no 'Whiz' you can't claim Marcian !
Mine mine mine all mine all mine

The Marcian is all yours. I am sitting on my hands and avoiding ebay like the plague to stop myself from spending more money!

I recently sold a Marcian, cleaned by my own 2 hands, for £1.20 + P&P... Well, I've still got my nice one. Second one is indeed Zeno.

I didn't realize the second one was Zeno, now that I look at it closer it is different than the last two. I don't have either of these two.

Looking around Ben I could not find one which could be read on both sides. I am assuming this is 'unusual' as the purpose of the monogram is no one even then it seemed could make head nor tails out of the obverse legend. Make me feel better now ! I see you sold one cheap ....... What would you think this Marcian would rate. Give or take a few British Pound sterling !
This lot did not come to me cheap !

Someone on this forum once posted the best Marcian I've ever seen (full legends, good strike, well centered, no corrosion) - must try and dig that out. As for value, not too long ago, it would be very pricey, but as I say, nice Marcians have been turningup by the bucket load (well, 5-10 went through ebay), so the price has been lowered a bit recently by the larger supply. This lot was £30, and it contains the rarer Leo I monogram: This was £55, but it has the mintmark, a highly rare feature on these: But then again...this is only expected to realise 150 euros at an upcoming auction:

Well as the reverse wreath runs off the flan I definitely have no mint mark. But the Obverses while the complete legend is quite a marvel don't seem to be up to the clean portrait I see on my rather stark photograph. For 'giggles' I put a value of $100 on it when I formulated what I would throw in for a top bid. The others of course I estimated lower (much lower) but they also have a rather 'clean' look about them. My brother thought they looked perhaps too clean. Well I took a chance. Time will tell whether I was hasty !

Those are very nice coins. I do like the monograms too. I hadn't really noticed that style before.

those are some very nice, readable monograms. if they look "decent" they're actually fantastic for the type hu? I have an average zeno monogram...that pretty darn ugly.
