I was thinking of expanding my Lincoln Cent collection to include the proofs. While looking into it, I thought I read that the Dansco with proofs for Lincoln cents only has pre-dated holes for 1975 proofs forward. Is that correct? Can anyone confirm? If so, is there a particular reason why they chose 1975?

Thanks!

Starting in 1975, S mints were proof only. Yes, so you are correct the Dansco #8100 has all mints, but starting with 1975 you will need to fill the S slots with proof only issues.

Correct. You will notice that the album title says "includes proof-only" issues. From 1975 on the S-mint coins were issued in proof only.

So, for 1968 to 1974, you have to decided whether to place a business strike or a proof in the S mint holes.

This is not unusual when you consider that no Dansco album (except for the Kennedy half dollar 8166) has separate places for any of the 1964 and earlier Philadelphia proofs.

If you want to add the pre 1975 proofs, you can use any blank holes at the end or add an extra page. You can also use this method if you want to add the 2005-2010 satin cents to your album.

That explains it. I was missing out on "includes proof only" and was thinking "includes proofs". I like sticking with the business strikes in the S mint prior to 75 so will keep my proofs in an extra Lincoln Cent Dansco page. Thanks!

If you want to keep your proof's original look, I wouldn't put them in a album.

I put proofs in all the pre 65 Philly spots if I can. I use proofs in all S mint spots from 69 on. But that is just me.

Just so you know, the Jefferson nickel album has the same problem with 1968, 1969, and 1970 S-mint issues.

I must also add that Susan B. Anthony album is another exception, since it include places for both business strike and proof S-mint coins.

I bought a blank page to put them inside.
I had left over holes so I just put anything in.
