I've gotten better at identifying them, but from this picture I'm having a tougher time with this one. I'm confused because ... -the top of the '7' both looks like it could be level with the other numbers but at the same time looks low. -The bottom of the '7' appears to be in line with the bottom of the 1 and 0. -Not sure where the tail of the loop in the '9' is pointing to. This is not my coin, but came across it on the interwebs. I do not have better pictures available. I am thinking it's probably not a small date, but was wondering if someone with more expertise would like to chime in to confirm that. Thanks!

Pic too small. Don't crop that pic but take a new shot close up on the date. John1

Looks LD to me, but in the classic sense, the seller posted it on an angle to make a judgment difficult.
0 looks larger 7 looks slightly below 9 can't tell where it's pointing LIBERTY looks crisp and well struck
Pretty sure it's LD.

Trent: A closer shot of the date mint mark area would be helpful.

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately this pic is from an internet auction. Hopefully the seller will provide a larger pic. Unfortunately I don't have the coin available to take better pics. I agree with Rackster on all his points and it probably is LD. I wonder if something happened to the bottom of the 7, because to me it doesn't look to be hanging down as much.

Just to make sure I'm not losing my mind, this is a SD, correct? This is a completely different coin.

Yes, that is a small date. The inner curl of the nine and weak "Liberty" all point to the SD.

The pics if the first post and the other large picture you posted are not of the same coin. If you can post a picture of the first coin the size and quality of the second coin you posted you would get a proper answer. Happy Hunting.

Yah on that first one I asked the seller for higher res pics and they claimed they couldn't. So with the first coin being iffy if it's a SD at best and the seller not helping, I'll let him/her keep it. Thanks all for the help!
