My grandmother had this is a plastic slab, would anyone have an idea why? Doesn't look anything special to me?

Thank you for your help.

She valued it. Not always a catalog price for the value of a coin.

A DDO,DDR an RPM? Anything, perhaps a gift? A momento of a special year/event? Change from a trip to another place in the country? Either way it was your grandmother's and you should keep it in the slab and cherish it for what it is, something from your loving grandmother. This isn't just a numismatic piece, it is a family keepsake and should be kept as original as when you received it. It is priceless and that's awesome

Maybe your grandmother liked the toning on the coin.

It's clearly an off-center strike; the date is just about to start falling off the rim and the corresponding reverse lettering is close. Don't know if that's the reason, but it certainly qualifies as a reason.

Original poster, does the reverse have full rims or is it like the obverse where its kind of lopsided?
To me I think I see a full rim on the reverse through the glare, but I could be wrong about it. ssuperdave could very well be right and honestly if one of has to be wrong, like in this case, I'd put my money on me being wrong, if I was a gambling man.

If this coin is an off center strike is there any premium attached? I'm guessing not much to none since it doesn't seem to have any of the design missing and I know with mads its that way but I am wondering if off centers are the same.

If the name for what they call it is wrong, that's why I never label my errors without asking on CCF.
