I saw this Lafayette Silver Dollar on ebay. The tops of the obverse lettering looks mushy to me, but I'm by no means an expert on what's authentic and what's not. I'm looking for opinions.
I'm unsure on this one. The obverse looks real enough but the horse on the reverse does not represent the grade and is essentially flat. It ends in 35 mins. If an expert doesn't give this opinion in the next few mins; you might as well skip.
Picking excellent quality fakes of all coins from ebay pictures alone is ALWAYS a tough call. Nevertheless, for this La Fayette dollar, the first thing that led to doubts for me, was the weakness of the rim beads.
Seller has "0" feedback. I know that we all have to start with a zero but this is one to run away from very quickly. I guess you can see what the buyer leaves in feedback later.
Thanks for the responses. I wasn't planning on bidding on the coin, I'm just trying to gain more skill at identifying suspect coins. Sometimes "It just doesn't look right" is a good gut feeling.
